Bob Jones began his career in gospel music as a young teenager. Bob Jones Sr, Bob’s
dad (and a member of the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame) formed the Songfellows
in 1954. At the time the quartet was doing a live television show in Bakersfield. CA
and one Friday discovered they needed a singer to fill in for the baritone, who left
suddenly. “Bobby” as he was known back then was drafted. Knowing very little about
singing but having heard Southern Gospel Quartet music all his life adapted quickly
and soon had a permanent spot. Later, Bob became the lead singer and manager of the
group. He left singing after a decade to build a business career which included heading up
several major music and musical instrument companies. He was vice president of sales
and marketing for Steinway and Sons, CEO and president of Baldwin Piano, Chairman
of the Board and president of the John T. Benson Co (Zondervan Music Group) and
president of Samick Music Corp. In 1988 Bob Sr and Bob reorganized the Songfellows
and rebuilt them into one of the nations premier gospel Quartets. Bob is how CEO of the
Homeland Inspiration Group, and the Brush Arbor Jubilee syndicated television series.
